1. Further the purposes and objects of Lions Clubs International. 1006 W. Scotsdale Rd
2. Supervise the organization of new Lions Clubs.
3. Promote the Lions Clubs International Foundation and all service activities of the Association.
4. Preside over Cabinet, Convention, and other District meetings.
5. Perform such other functions and acts as shall be required of him/her by the International Board of Directors through the District Governor's Manual and other directives.
6. Preside, when present, over Cabinet, Convention, and other District meetings.

Sid Scruggs, of Vass, North Carolina, USA, was elected and served a
two-year term as a director of The International Association of Lions
Clubs (2000-2002) at the association's 83rd International Convention,
held in Honolulu, Hawaii, USA, June 19-23, 2000.
Past Director Scruggs is a retired commercial airline pilot.
A member of the Vass Lions Club, Lion Scruggs has held many offices
within the association, including club president, multiple district
extension chairman and district governor. In addition he has served on
the board of directors of the North Carolina Lions Foundation and was
Multiple District White Cane chairman.
In recognition of his service to the association, Past Director Scruggs
has received numerous awards, including four Lion of the Year awards,
the 100% Club President Award, the Governor of Excellence Award, Senior
Master Key Award, six New Club Extension Awards, Guiding Lion Award,
three International President's Certificates of Appreciation, an International
President's Leadership Award, four International President's Award,
and the Ambassador of Goodwill. He is also a Progressive Melvin
Jones Fellow and he has sponsored 33 members. Sid is also a Guiding Lion
for the Pinehurst Lions Club.
In addition to his Lion activities, Lion Scruggs is active in numerous
professional and community organizations. He is a member of the Board of
Directors of the Governor Morehead School for the Blind and the Raleigh
Lions Clinic For The Blind, Inc., a life member of the North Carolina and
Florida Lions Foundation, a Habitat for Humanity coordinator, a life member
of the American Airlines Grey Eagles Association and a life member of the
United States Naval Academy Alumni Association. He is a past president
of Calvary Christian Schools in Derry, New Hampshire and a past YMCA
Indian Guides Nation Chief. He is also actively involved with guide dogs
for the blind and is recepient of the Canine Companion for Independence
Abdul Award.
Past Director Scruggs and his wife, Judy, also a Lion and a Progressive
Melvin Jones Fellow and Jack Stickley Fellow, have four children and 14
grandchildren.
